1. How long have you been in business?
Since 1919 (over 85 years).
2. Is your company still family owned?
Yes. The third generation has taken over the business, Chris & John Fosselman.
3. Do you make all of your own ice cream?
Yes. All of the ice cream, sherbet, sorbet & yogurt is made at our plant and retail store in Alhambra.
4. Do you use any preservatives in your ice cream?
No preservatives are added to any of our products.
5. Who comes up with your new flavors?
Chris & John listen to both their wholesale & retail customers in the development of new ice cream flavors. They also do some experimenting of their own.
6. What's the difference between sherbet & sorbet?
Sorbet is natural fruit juice and puree blended with sugar and water and a natural stabilizer. A non-dairy, non-fat product. Sherbet is the same except cream is added. A dairy product with approximately 1 1/2% butterfat.
7. What is the butterfat content of your ice cream?
16 % butterfat. (considered premium ice cream).
8. Do you still sell your powdered ice cream recipe mix for homemade ice cream makers?
Not currently.
9. Are you the same Fosselman's Ice Cream that used to have shops in South Pasadena, Highland Park, and Glendale?
Yes, that's us. We now only have our one retail shop and plant in Alhambra and we've been here since 1941.
